If Viceroy of India had said "throw away all weapons and stay away from politics", then would Indian youth had taken his advices?

NO.

So British saw that it is necessary that some Indian person with saintly / nationalistic image should say so. And mediamen must be paid tons to project him. and that person will also need money to run activities to keep youth busy with something non-violent and something non-political.

Now if British directly pay that saint or nationalist, then people will loose faith in that saint or nationalist
.
So British saw that is necessary to pay that person via someone else
.
The fame hungry people also saw that British want a saint and a nationalist to make call to throw away weapons and stay away from politics.

So many apex "leaders" started to work in that direction.

Finally, India saw two tall "leaders". Mohanbhai Gandhi alisas Duratma Gandhi came and said "throw away all weapons and confine to charkha spinning" and Hegadewar said "throw away all weapons except laathi and stay from politics and confine to social work and morning walks" !!!

British ordered Tata , Birla, Bajaj, Sarabhai, Dalmia, Godrej et al to fund campaign of Duratma Gandhi

And British ordered Gaekwad , Schindhia and many Kings to fund activities of Hegadewar
.
And mediamen were paid to project Duratma Gandhi as saint
.
And mediamen were paid to write that "Hegadewar is Hinduvaadi" so that Hinduvaadi youth will get fooled and follow him !!

A true nationalist will NEVER say that youth should stay away from politics , election, constructing political parties, campaign for legislation etc.
