A very difficult logic puzzle which (perhaps) explains (plus or minus) feature of Islamic societies
.
There are two islands.
.
Each island has 100 dragons.
.
Dragons have red eyes or pink eyes
.
Island has no mirror and no one will tell dragon what is color of his eyes. The dragons have logically deduce color of his eyes
.
Out of 100 dragons, say 15 dragons have red eyes and 85 have pink eyes
.
If a dragon logically deduces that he has red eyes, then he will change color of his eyes to pink. But as long there is benefit of doubt that he may have pink eyes, he wont change color of his eyes.
.
(1) Now on island-1, all 100 dragons had met, and a man came and said "one of you have red eyes". And on 15th day, 15 dragons with red eyes converted their eye color to pink.
.
(2) Now on island-2, all 99 dragons had met, and one dragon with red eye had gone out, and a man came and said "one of you have red eyes". And even after 100 days, no dragon changed color of his eyes
.
Pls explain why / how in each case
.
(1) is well known problem in many logic textbooks in first year maths / engineering
.
(2) is more complicated problem and not given in textbooks till date.
