Ahmedabad: For a state that is projected as a development model by the Prime Minister and his party men, Gujarat's sex ratio at birth (SRB) remains a blot on its reputation. The PM's pet campaign, 'Beti bachao, beti padao', does not seem to have found resonance his home state.

According to the latest National Family Health Survey (NFHS), Gujarat's SRB -- of 906 females per 1,000 males in 2005-06 -- has merely crawled to 907 in 2015-16.
