Thermal images and other means --- say you are in middle of trees and bushes, and some 200 meters away 1 person is hiding in those trees and bushes. You dont know which direction around you.

So using thermal image camera, is it possible to detect where exactly that person is hiding? And to what distance can it work? And how far? 200 meters? 500 meters?

Also, say you have a drone which can circle around and see ground images. Then how will you locate that person who can be 500 meters to 1km away

I am asking because I know NOTHING about thermal imaging (except movie scenes which have zero value).

I am asking because it seems that terrorists who were killed in cross border strike could not see our soldiers using sniffer dogs, using thermal image based camera , night vision camera and using their monitoring drones.

A simple answer can be - they didnt have thermal camera , didnt have sniffer dogs, didnt have night vision camera and also didnt have drones to monitor area over their launchpads to stop intruders !!! Which is possible.

But lets get information about these devices which are generally used to detect attackers even at a distance.
