Solar panel is the SIMPLEST of all silicon chips. India imports most of the solar panels, and some made in India solar panels are made by Moser Baer,m an Isareli company. And other most other Indian manufacturers are also in reality mere importers.

GoI was encouraging local made solar panels by adding clauses that GoI will subsidize only those solar projects which locally made solar panels.

Sun Edison and several US companies had opposed GoI in WTO. Sun Edison has tie ups with Chinese manufacturers. WTO has ruled in favor is USA. So local solar panel manufacturing may decrease and imports may increase
