Power of activists (and social media) --- NaMo, BJP-leaders etc and paidjournalists are forced at least cite Sindh river water treaty !!!

Today, BJP ex-Minister (and BJP RS MP till recently) Yashwant Sinha has made statement to cancel water treaty, But when he was Minister between 1998-2004, he never took any move to even mention this treaty to activists !!!

And today, NaMo ordered Foreigne Affairs Dept Secretray to make statement against water treaty. But all these years as RSS-pracharak or CM or even as PM for past 2.5 years, NaMo never informed or mentioned a word against Indo-Pak water treaty
,
No paidmediamen also ever discussed water treaty till day.

So what made Yashwant Sinha , NaMo etc at least mention water treaty?

The reason is --- due to social media, activists' demands gain more power.

Since ages, many activists in India have proposed that India should cancel indo-pak water treaty.

There had been a loooong discussion some 1 year ago on this issue. I had demonstrated in that thread that no MP, given the Saud money's influence in India politics, will ever agree with using "water as weapon", though over 85% of us commons support "water as weapon" policy. Now your demand that we should use "water as weapon" is good. I agree with it, and so do over 80% of us commons of India. But not even one MP agrees with it. Now pls tell us how do we enact laws which implement this "water as weapon" policy?

And on same forum, there was a discussion in 2003 on same issue, in which had asked all to send postcards to ABV to demand that water treaty with Pakistan should be cancelled. Back then format of my campaign was "send postcard to PM" !!!

And I had also given a valid basis. We ask Pakistan to pay all direct and indirect costs of terrorism , and deduct 100 liters for every Re 1 of the cost.

IOW, activists, leaders like Congress / BJP / AAP leaders and paidmediamen all knew Indo Pak water treaty.

But none, including SoGa / NaMo / ArKe ever mentioned it

But all of a sudden, BJP leaders have started talking about it.

That is because power of activism has grown due to social media.

So FB campaiging does work. It doesnt create leaders,m but does take a good thought across..
