The numbers of hours students are putting in supporting and opposing UPSC's exams' format --- if they had put 1/10th of hours in reducing corruption in IAS, IPS etc, then India would have been much better off !!!
.
This is irony. The students who appear for IAS all say that they are putting hours and hours in preparing in exam to serve nation, and not for any power, fame and monetary ambitions.
.
And they are putting hours and hours in opposing or supporting UPSC exam format , again, for the benefit of country and not their personal benefit.
.
And if 1/10th of hours were put in curbing corruption in IAS, IPS etc, then corruption in IAS, IPS would have been much much less, and and India would have been a better place to leave. But apparently, those who want to serve India by putting 100s of hours in opposing/supporting UPSC exam formats dont want to put even 10 hours in ways other than appearing in UPSC exam.
.
All in all, those who have sit in exams can do what they wish. But if you are NOT sitting in exam, then I request you to ponder over fact that why do lakhs or youth want to appear in eam to fill mere 100-200 vacancies? In USA, for 100 vacancies, number of candidates that appear in competitive exams are mere 500 to 1000 at most. Sometimes, Govt depts literally visit Universities asking students to appear for exams for Govt jobs !!! The reasons are obvious and we all know. So exam format is valid issue, but IMO, we should spend more time in reducing corruption in IAS, IPS then time we put in fixing exams.
