In China, those who want to study liberal arts in college, also have to first clear Maths exam !!!
.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Higher_Education_Entrance_Examination
.
Also, those who appear in govt officers' selection tests , including magistrate, have to clear maths / analytical exams
.
It will be useful to see maths questions that magistrates and liberal arts students have to clear.
.
At this rate, China will have far far netter skill level in maths \ science than India.
.
In India, people become IAS by taking subjects like political science and not doing even simple maths. And we have magistrates who are so duffer that they can solve 7th class compound interest questions. So maths / logic level of their officers / judges will be far higher than India. This will worse India/China strength ratio.

.
In USA, maths / science level of AVERAGE student may be worse than China, but top 20% US students and top 20% Chinese will be at par. USA has so called Advanced programs in well funded schools which improves maths / science levels. Also Kumon System for Mathematics Teaching is now widely used in USA. Kumon System is the best know maths teaching system. But average schools in USA is poor compared to china in maths / science (though average schools in USA is FAR FAR better than average schools in India).
.
But USA due to JurySys , RTR , referendum, multi-election etc has more free market competition than china. There are array of skills and instincts that only fierce competition can teach and not schools. So a lot of things that free market can teach and schools cant are more in abundance in USA than in China.
.
But market in India arent as free as USA or even China due to higher corruption / nepotism in courts, IAS, IPS, Ministers etc and education of maths / Science is poor. IOW, compared to China and USA, we are worse off along all dimensions
.
Solutions are simple --- Right to recall district education oficer, RTR Education Minister, Jury System etc.I have explained in many of my posts.
