I never, NEVER, intvested a penny in stock market. My favorite is rentable real estate, i.e. small flats. And next favotire is PPF, FDs and gold. Of course, I never got time to make enough money that I would think much on issue of investment. But I always dismissed share market as hoax .

In fact, it can be shown that those who have insider information on RBI are the ones who will make most money in share market. eg if you know say 1 week in advance when Raghuram Ghazani is going to change interest rates, you can get as much as 50% pa return on your investment by buying futures on interest rates !! So the real ones who make money in share market are those who control Raghuram Ghazani i.e. Rothschilde etc
