This was told again and again and again across India in many paid-newspapers , paid-tv-channels etc
Here I would point out one difference between many honest activists and dishonest crooks like AK. Many activists say from day one that they may/will contest elections. eg since from oct-1998 , I have said that I will contest elections to publicize the law drafts I want to get passed. And I made it clear way back in oct-1998 itself that winning elections useless as people change after winning --- STRONG good laws like RTR, Jury etc can come only via real mass-movements. So when I contested elections in may-2009, there was no backstabbing anyone. And for 10 years, many RSS-activists etc who likes RTR etc did NOT support me, because they feared that my contesting elections can cut middle class votes and damage BJP. And Congress-supporters did NOT support me because they feared that my pro-poor proposals like MRCM, wealth tax will cut congress votes !! I was aware about the FACT that if I announce election-contesting, then RSS-activists , BJP-supporters, Congress-supporters will not support me. And if I lie to them and tell them in oct-1998 that I will not contest elections, then I can get ample support from both.
Why did AK make fake promise that he would never contest elections? This was mainly because he wanted support from middle class NaMo-activists, RSS-activists, BJP-activists etc. None would have supported AK if they knew that AK is going to contest elections. All in all, they all got backstabbed.
One may ask --- whats wrong in back-stabbing BJP, given that they are all corrupt anyway? Well, it is not BJP who got back-stabbed, it is BJP-activists who got backstabbed. And most activists across all parties are honest -- they campaign for their respective party as they see their party as least bad along some important dimension. And if a man can backstab someone, tomorrow he can backstab anyone and everyone. Because backstabbing is a personality trait, it is not a strategic choice.
Anyway, tentative election results date are 18-may-2014. Lets who more get backstabbed in jun-2014
