On a local Ahmedabad issue : I support Rs 20 entrance fee for Himalaya Mall
Himalaya Mall decided to take entrance fee of Rs 20 on some crowded days , because expense of security , water (water from water cooler in malls is free), cleaning floors, cleaning toilets etc shoots up with crowd size.
Now since it was id festival, useless politicians and useless intellectuals made it secularism issue !! And even BJP MLAs criticized Himalaya Mall for having entrance fee !! And said that public places should NOT entrance fees. Well Himalaya Mall isnt public place and Kankaria Lake which is public place has entrance fee of Rs 10 since past 5 years. Some MLAs own hospitals. And there, they dont treat even patients from their own constituency for free. And these MLAs insist that malls should not have entrance fees.
Encouraged by the MLAs' verbal support, the crowd outside Himalaya Mall went on rampage and started slogan shouting. The mall manager called policemen. The IPS instead of dispersing crowd asked Himalaya mall manager to let crowd enter without entrance fee !! Basically, IPS did not want to do his job, but wanted to peacefully surrender to the crowd. The crowd entered with loud shoutings, and so almost every descent person , particularly those who had come with family members left !! I dont know how much shopping did this crowd did and how much revenue mall lost because well to do people left due to recklessness of the crowd.
All in all, MLAs across parties are behaving in more and more recklessly these days.
Solution I propose is RTR-District-Police-Chief . The people in city at large do NOT support such "free for all" mentality, because they know that such "free for all" socialism is useless. And mall is not basic necessity which should be free. And so if Police Chief doesnt take actions to disperse such shouting crowd, then people in city will surely fire such police chief . So if RTR-District-Police-Chief is there, Police Chief will be forced to take timely action.
I request all activists to convince voters to order MLAs via SMS to print RTR-Police-Chief draft in Gazette. Otherwise, such crowds will become more and more reckless.
