Question for ALL non-pharmacy people --- Why are almost all medicine tablets like stopach, anacin, metacin etc , if chewed, taste very bitter?

(I framed the Questions, as well as guessed the answer. My doc friend couldnt answer and said "well, I also never thought why this is so"?)

Pls do NOT post answer if you are in pharmacy field.

PS : this post has NOTHING to do with politics, economics, law etc. It is just a simple common sense, general knowledge question.
