Comment “OLDMAN” and I’ll send you my free guide on preserving speed, explosiveness, and athleticism as you get older.

Kenton Brown is 81 years old and ran 14.61 in the 100 meters to set a new M80 world record.

That should make a lot of people rethink what aging actually takes away from us.

You do not lose the ability to be athletic as you age.

You lose the willingness to be athletic as you age.

Most people enter their 40s, 50s, and 60s and slowly remove speed from their lives.

They stop sprinting.

They stop jumping.

They stop bouncing.

They stop changing direction.

They stop exposing the body to fast ground contacts and elastic movement.

Then years later, those qualities feel foreign and we blame age.

If you want to preserve speed, you have to keep giving your body a reason to maintain it.

Start with the feet and ankles.

Build strength.

Restore elasticity and rhythm.

Use isometrics.

Introduce low level plyometrics.

Progress into acceleration work.

Then gradually expose yourself to faster sprinting again.

You do not need to move like you did at 20.

But athletes like Kenton are proof that speed, coordination, and explosiveness can still exist deep into old age when they continue to be trained.
