In ancient days , from 300 bc onwards , across world. cutting forest trees became a "sin" ie "paap" !!!

The bikau or genuine influencers worked to created a notion that whole forest ie unused lands is king's property. And so anyone cutting forest trees to convert forest lands to make a farm became a sinner and a criminal !!!

Imo , this was to ensure that a landless farmer cannot become land owning farmer !!!

Many moons ago, whole bharat and whole world was forest. Back then, some cut forest trees and became landowners. So today, if a landless goes to cut forest, then a landowner , who is benefitting from cut forest , should not complain. And if a landless is to be stopped from cutting forest land so that he can become landowning farmer, then better give him portion of plain land at the price equal to cutting forest !!!

Point is - Mahatma Thomas Paine's proposal is only remedy or let all landless cut forest lands and become landowning farmer or mineral owners !!
