🎬 HANUMAN ANSH — CREATING THE LOOK OF AN ERA

It was a privilege to be associated with peoples blockbuster Hanuman Ansh as the Senior DI Colourist.

Being a period film, Hanuman Ansh required a visual treatment that could take the audience beyond the present and into the world of another era.

The objective of the Color Grading was not to make the images simply look “old”, but to create a period-inspired cinematic aesthetic that felt authentic to the film’s world.

We developed the look by carefully working with colour palette, contrast, saturation, skin tones, highlights and shadows, creating a more organic, textured and timeless visual character.

The colour treatment was designed to complement the period setting — retaining earthy and natural tones, controlling modern-looking colours, shaping the contrast and highlights, and creating a visual texture that supports the atmosphere of the era.

At the same time, it was important to maintain the cinematic quality and clarity expected from a contemporary theatrical presentation. The challenge was to find the right balance between historical atmosphere and modern cinematic storytelling.

For me, the most rewarding part of the process was seeing the images gradually transform during the DI — from individual shots into a complete visual world belonging to another time.

Today, seeing Hanuman Ansh achieve blockbuster success and connect with audiences makes being a part of this journey even more special.

My gratitude to the entire team — Director- Vishal Chaturvedi, DOP - Vishal Bawa, Editor - Shankh, Producers and the creative & post-production departments — for their trust and collaboration.
