Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has given students a bold message about thinking beyond high-paying jobs.

Speaking to graduating students at Vellore Institute of Technology, she urged young people to think like job creators instead of only job seekers.

Her message was simple: rather than chasing a ₹1 crore salary package, dream of building a ₹1,000 crore company.

She also encouraged students to use technology and innovation to solve real problems such as pollution, traffic and waste management.

The larger idea behind her statement was not that everyone should reject a good job, but that young Indians should also consider entrepreneurship and creating opportunities for others.

Of course, building a ₹1,000 crore company is far more difficult and risky than the statement makes it sound.

But her message has started an interesting conversation about how young Indians should define success: a high salary or building something of their own?
