In my personal Opinion - SONAM WANGCHUK IS A COMPLETE TIMEWASTER!
1. Wangchuk & members of ruling party are best friends - very similar to Gandhi and the British rulers.
Gandhi never said any anti-Indian thing. He simply helped East India Company to reduce the popularity of Mahatmas like Tilak, Savarkar and Bose, and kept 40 crore Indians away from weapons.
What Wangchuk has successfully done is the same: restricted the entire discussion to resignation of one Education Minister.
2. Ask yourself - EM resigns tomorrow. Then what? New minister, same powers, same zero accountability.
Maximum he will resign and enjoy his post-retirement life in Switzerland. Remember Justice Burnt Cash Verma case?
Here are the points Wangchuk is dead silent on. Judge for yourself whether that silence is accidental.
3. RIGHT TO RECALL
Since 1900s, voters in the USA recall Mayors and even Governors mid-term via recall election.
If Indians have Right to Recall laws, we could recall any inefficient or corrupt minister ourselves no fasting required.
So why is Wangchuk silent on recall laws? I have never seen him giving a draft on this topic.
Note - HSRA gave draft in 1925.
4. TALKS ON ACCOUNTABILITY BUT HIDES LOOPHOLES IN EVMs
Fact: Since 2001, not even 1 single machine has been made available to voters by ECI to open, test and audit - despite us having 18 lakh machines.
Please google "Hariprasad EVM Demo" and "IITian Rahul Chimanbhai Mehta EVM BLACK GLASS Demo."
After realising loopholes in EVMs, I sent an open tweet to PM to allow me to vote via paper ballots.
Why is Wangchuk silent? Does he support current EVMs?
5. PROTESTERS BEING BEATEN BY POLICE
This is nothing new. Police is puppet of CMs - appraisals, transfers, suspensions all lie in the hands of CM.
In USA, the District Police Cheif - Sheriff is elected directly by voters, and can be recalled by voters.
So the police there knows citizens control their job. So they behave.
Now why is Wangchuk silent on police reform? He want protestors to get beaten?
6. REFERENDUM
Many countries have referendums/transparent complaint filing, where voters can initiate a referendum on any law or proposal.
This saves the time of protest and gathers objective factual data on the voice of citizens in the gap between two elections.
Wangchuk silent on citizens right to seek referrendums? He wants to be Messiah all the time?
7. ELECTION AND RECRUITMENT PROCEDURES
Term of MPs in USA is 2 years. Senate members in USA are elected by voters.
In India, term is 5 years. MLAs elect Rajya Sabha MPs.
There is no written exam procedure for recruitment of judges (heavy weightage on interviews) or directy appointed.
Wangchuk is silent on all of it.
So out and out, in my opinion, he is a complete timewaster - shifting focus away from every key points.
In trading there is concept - stop loss.
Wangchuk functions as a stop loss for the ruling class & helps to mis-direct anger of youth!
