The first Evm prototype was made by ECIL in year 1979 and demonstrated to all political parties in same year.

Back then, a few apex naami Electronics engineers were non bikau. They publicized the opinion that remote control can be put inside evm in factory. And so evm project got slowpaced in 1979. Even devi indira Amma tried her best in 1980 - 1984 govt to bring Evm. She failed. Late Shri Rajiv Gandhiji also failed to bring Evm. Pvnr failed

By year 1998, all naami apex Electronics engineers stopped publicizing that remote control can be placed in evm in factory. So evm became universal in around jun-2000.
