Just as we have lakhs and crores of students studying political science, Sociology etc subjects, Iran has lakhs of students who full time study religion related subjects to become cleric, maulvi etc. In iran, upper parliament house is for clerics only. Plus, 10000s of mosque jobs ( which are govt jobs) are for scholars in religion. So lakhs of students study religion day and night, just as our UPSC aspirants study Sociology, psychology, political science etc.

And iran has one the highest defection rate amongst engineers per 1000 population of engineers. About 100k engineers, science graduates, and science or engineeting students leave iran and go to usa uk canada au europe !!! So much so, that iran has crude oil, but it imports diesel it needs !!! Forget refining all crude oil it produces, even the crude oil it needs for its own consumption needs to be imported and is something they are not able to refine.

While bharatiya elitemen completely surrendered to usuk, Iranian elitemen didnt. So they at least promoted some weapon engineering. So they have better made in iran weapons than made in bharat weapons. So iran did better than bharat in engineering. But has been way way behind usa.
