So increase custom duty not just on chinese goods, but also ALL manufactured goods to 100% to 300%. Import duty on raw material need not be increased, except crude oil, which we need to increase to save forex.

Now will exiting WTO reduce "progress" aka "vikas": of India?

The word progress is vague. Consider Dubai. People in Dubai have better cellphones than people in USA. But none of them are made in Dubai. And how many Dubai people know how to make cellphone or run cellular network? ZERO. Likewise, Dubai has best of world in everything --- from water supply to sewers to traffic management to oil drilling to cellualr network and high rise construction. And EVEYTHING is made and run by expats from USUK, Germany, France, SoKo, Japan etc. The people in Dubai are ONLY "proud" owners !! Proud of their "progress". I call it SUPERFICIAL progress.

In contrast, take China or USA. USA is makes a lot of hoitech goods such medical equipment and weapons, and is capable of making every goods that USA imports from china. USA doesnt manufacture them due to labor cost issue. So Americans know how to make mobile and and run mobile network and everything else they own and use.And same with China. I call that REAL progress

IOW, REAL progress is when real ENGINEERING skills of people grows. And SUPERFICIAL progress is when population is owner and user, and doesnt know anything about how to manufacture and run it.

The WTO agreement is only adding SUPERFICIAL progress in India i.e. people have hitech goods and no one in Indian population knows how to make them !!!

The WTO-supporters do cite words "progress" and "vikas". But they dont mention and explain difference between REAL progress and SUPERFICIAL progress.

As per them, importing and owning is "smart" and insisting on manufacturing in India by Indians is some "dumb misguided swadeshi" !!

I dont know what India wants i.e what 135 crore people of India want. No vote on this issue has been taken in India,. So I dont know how people say "135 crore Indians want this and doesnt want that".

I can only cite what I want. I want REAL progress and I do NOT want superficial progress. Raising import duty on MANUFACTURED GOODS (not gold or raw material) to 100% doesnt decrease real progress even by 1%. It will surely ruin the SUPERFICIAL progress. Good riddance
.
So you activists / voters have to decide. You can decide to raise import duties to 100% to promote REAL manufacturing in India. Raising import duty is firt step - and more will be needed to reduce inefficiencies in Indian manufacturing to US levels. These steps will be RTR, Jury, repeal GST, levy wealth tax, streamline income tax, repeal Mauritius tax treaty, referendum, MRCM = DDMRCAM, two child law draft and so on.
