Tibet and Switerland have many thing in common --- all ice and nothing grows. But Switerland is a powerful country while Tibet has been poor (even before Chinese took over in 1950s).
.
Switerland is GREAT example of how despite extreme adverse weather and HETROGENOUS population, country can progress. Switerland has people with 3 languages - French, german, Italian who at one time were at war with each other. And they have catholics and protestants who were at war with each other . Despite massive such cracks in society along religious / linguistic lines, and poor weather, less areable land --- Switzerland became so powerful and resourceful that even Adolf Hitler didnt dare to attack !!!
