An average American citizens works "harder" than Indian citizen, in their countries' polity, and so USA is ahead of India.

In India, voters do ONLY three things --- elect Corporator (or Panchayat Members), elect MLA and elect MP.
.
Whereas US citizen does following work in polity
.
1. Sits in Jury and decides whether accused should be acquitted or punished, and also has say in deciding extent of punishment
.
2. Sits in Jury and protects govt officers , labor from wrongfully harassing a factory / business owner
.
3. Sits in Grand Jury and does above tasks
.
4. Elects City Councilor, Mayor , District judge, District Prosecutor, District Education Officer and above all, District Police Chief
.
5. Recalls one or more of them if they are defunct.
.
6. Elects MLA, CM, State High Court Judges.
.
7. Recalls above if they are defunct
.
8. Elects Loksabha Member, elects Rajyasabha Member, elects President (no recall on these)
.
9. Makes laws at District level using referendum / initiatives
.
10. Makes laws at State level using referendum / initiatives (no such procedure at CEntral level)
,
IOW, American citizen does lot more work in his polity than an Indian citizen does in his polity.

And so he is better off.

IOW, there is no deep magic. He works more / smarter will get more.There are 10s of other differences, but above differences are key.

SOLUTION?
.
Solution I propose to activists is that they should stop insist that citizens should confine to SoMoKe-andhbhakti and voting for CoBhAp-leaders. IMO, activists should work to FORCE PM / CMs to print law-drafts that would enable Indian citizens to do abive tasks. Otherwise, we will get behind and behind and behind. And we will see repeat of 1750 in much worse ways.
