Preserving food radiation increases incidence of mutations in bacteria etc and can create more harmful bacteria in nature at a much faster rate.
.
SoMoKe and CoBhApSwaRa-workers will soon approve use of radiation at a mass scale. to preserve frians, pulses, vegetable and fruits. The technology has been proven as harmless as no harm has been found. But that only because this technology accelerates rare-events by orders of magnitude, but they remain low that no duration of experiment can prove it in reproduceable way.
.
In nature, without any human intervention too, more and more harmful bacteria keep coming. The source is -- genetic mutation of existing bacteria. Most mutation create weaker offsprings. In general, one in ten thousand mutation will create a stronger a being.
.
Now most important source of mutation is radiation. But incidence is so low, that it literally takes 100s of years for radiations to create mutations that would create a stronger bacteria..
.
But food irradiation can reduce the span from 100s years to decades. The span "decade" is long enough that no experiment can detect it, But if one applies simple probability maths, its easy to see.
.
And why is food radiation promoted? To reduce prices of goods like tomato. Well, as I write this post, tomato in Ahmedabad are selling at Rs 80 per kg retail price, while farmers in Andhra Pradesh are throwing away tomatoes in field as the price they are getting, Rs 8 per kg,, and even at that rate, there are NO buyers !!! IOW, the food price problem is 100% artificial. Surely , there are over supply and under supply and we need to presever food. But to protect against famine, we ONLY need to preserve grains and pulses and not vegetables and fruits. And grains like jwar, bajara are very easy to preserve. IOW, we can protect ourselves against famine by jwar, bajra . For fruits and vegetables, we only need to reduce corruption. We really dont need radiation for this.
.
Solution I propose is --- activists shpuld send following order to MP via SMS "I order you to print TCP draft in Gazette given in section-1.3 of rahulmehta . com / 301.htm ". Once TCP draft comes, we can print Right to Recall Food Minister draft in Gazette. Once that comes, supply chain of food will improve, hoarding will decrease and we wont need radiation.
