To decrease losses of BRTS, NaMo has ordered AMTS to shut down AMTS's profitable parallel routes so that passangers have to take BRTS. . So passangers have to now pay twice the fare !!! Solution?

BRTS = Bus Rapid Transit Service. Mostly the buses go in the middle of the road and have a separate space for itself where no other cars or even AMTS buses are allowed.

AMTS = Ahmedaad Municipal Trasport Service.= local city buses of Ahmedabad

Now BTRS is faster because it has its own corrider and fewer stoppages. And in return, it reduces the speed of OTHER vehicles , as now they have less road space. So BRTS is zero sum game at best. And in fact, it is loss as its corrider is LESS used compared roads on either sides and so it is inefficient. Anyway, this status is NOT about BRTS's viability. I am anti-BRTS, but that is all aside.

Now BRTS charges per km are twice that of AMTS. And BRTS is losing money. So many AMTS routes which are profitable, but along BRTS, are being shut down so that AMTS users along that route have to take BRTS.

All that is fine, except that BRST fares are twice that of AMTS !! And stopagges are lesser, and so on an average, a person has to walk a longer distance from busstop to place he wants to go to.

IOW, to feed loss making BRTS, profit making routes of AMTS are being killed, and passengers lose twice the money. The benefit they get is that they save a lot of time. But not everyone can afford twice the fare. as not everyone earns so high for their hour,.

BRTS may be having its plus and minus points. That is all aside,. But NaMo's decision to kill profit making routes of AMTS to feed loss making BRTS is a sad one.

Solution I propose is --- the voters who want this to change should send order to Corporator via SMS to print Right to Recall AMTS chairman draft , Jury System over AMTS staff draft. And those who want BRTS to end should order Corporator via SMS to end BRTS. There are NO win-all solutions as far as traffic goes. Traffic is a mess, someone would lose and someone would gain. Finally, it is majority that should decide. And it is better we use SMS by 50 lakh Ahmedabad voters to decide than whims of few persons.
