Power of paid-media : 1000s of activists wasted their three years behind this "all hype , no design" AK = AAP
Small squabbles like AK vs Binny are non-issue. But a recent allegation from AAP-apex leader Yogendra Yadav that AAP MLA Vinod Binny has been bribed by BJP is important.
If AAP MLA Vinod Binny can be bribed by BJP, then what is going to stop Congress or BJP or foreigners from bribing 20 more AAP MLAs, coming Lokpals and coming AAP MPs? And if a person is bribed by foreigners, then his assets will be in Mauritius banks and wont be even visible in India. His behavior will become anti-India, and behavior would tell. But there wont be any visible link or sudden increase in assets that can create a proof, except narco-test in public. In such case , what remedy does AK propose to common voters and AAP-activists? NONE !!!
Since aug-2012, I have asked AAPians this question --- what will stop your 30 MLAs or your 300 MPs to sell out to foreigners the way Congress/BJP MPs have sold out? And AAPian have been saying "Please have faith in AK. The MLA-candidates and MP-candidates he will choose will be all bribe-free" !! Well, then how come Binny who was handpicked by AK sold out so soon?
IOW, it is pointless to change MLAs\MPs\PM\CMs etc without Right to Recall i.e. procedure by which voters can change PM\CM\MP\MLA anyday. This what Mahatma Chandrashekhar Azad had said in 1925 that "election without RTR will become a joke" !!
The Vinod Binny issue is IMO minor. Binny is nobody compared to sponsors of AK. The sponsors of AK can easily bring Binny under control. One way is to cut off media coverage to Binny. Binny has been jumping up and down because he gets media coverage. Once paid-media coverage ends, he will mellow down. Another way is to unleash IAS/IPS/judges on businesses Vinod Binny has. Once Binny faces a few inquiries against his business, he will mellow down. So AK's sponsors such as Jindal etc can bring Binny within his orbit in few days. But then , it is sponsors of AK who will call shots and not AK. Because without sponsors, AK cant bring Binny under control. AK doesnt have any legal power to control Binny. And AK he has any financial\media strength. And today it is just Binny --- what will stop 20 more MLAs from taking bribe, revolting against AK and removing him from CM-ship and installing someone else? And what will stop MPs from taking bribes from Congress, BJP or foreigners and rebelling in future? And what will stop Lokpals from taking bribes?
The parties such as Congress\BJP use following methods to control MP\MLA --- the MP\MLA often has businesses , or he is dependent on his relatives businesses. And his businesses or his relatives businesses can be damaged via govt inquiries which are conducted by officers under CM\PM. IOW, it is raw blackmail and nothing more !! The foreigners control their per MPs via businesses that MP has with foreigners. Or sometimes, the MP\MLA wants more senior position and so he himself controls himself.
AK has MLAs who have nothing and so they are out of control. But soon AK's sponsors will offer carrot and stick on Binny or AK or both and bring the quarrel under control.
But these means dont benefit us commons. For us, we need straight forward ways. eg we should DIRECTLY elect CM and have RTR over CM so that CM doesnt depend on MLAs. And we should have RTR over MLAs, so that if MLA mis-behaves, then voters can expel him. And so forth.
All in all, if a person gets term guarantee for 5 years for the position of Lokpal, or MLA\MP\CM\PM or 30 year term in IAS\IPS\judges, then all sort of misbehavior will happen.
But AAPians should see that their whole movement of setting aside RTR-DRAFTS and hoping that their Lokpals, MPs, MLAs, CMs, PM , judges, IAS, IPS etc will not sell out without RTR/Jury is sheer nonsense.
All in all, AK = AAP was 100% pure hype with NO design. There wasnt design to even address the simplest of all 60 year old problem --- what will stop majority of MPs from selling out?
The activists got swayed mainly because of paid-media . If AK had said this without drum beating by paid-media that "None of my MLA candidates will take bribes", then people would have laughed at him. But the paid-media first projected him as a superman. This created immense faith in adivists that AAP's MLAs, MPs and Lokpals will not sell out. And thus AK managed to kick aside RTR-issue.
All in all, this was 3 years wasted of 1000s of activists into creating just one more Congress.
Solution ? Solution I propose is that activists should meet as many AAPians as possible and ask them to focus on RTR-drafts FIRST. They should explain to AAPians that gving DRAFT doesnt need power. One can give RTR-drafts without any power in hand. And AK had promised to give RTR-drafts in apr-2011 in 2 months !! And now 2.75 years has passed. But still AK says same committee thing. RTR-draft should become FIRST priority.
