How to detect/punish husbands/BFs who have sold off their wives/GFs into dens
Some of the most serious cases of violence against women are as follows, and I think it is possible to reduce them.
1. The guy and girl falls in love, against wish of parents\community
2. They marry or elope without marriage
3. The husband\bf sells her into some den
4. The policemen\judges in that district are corrupt to core and so girl simply cant complain
5. The girl is afraid that her parents\community will not accept her back and so she lives in dire situation
Solution is as follows, except in extreme cases where she is completely locked.
steps-14 are information campaign and can be done without any law-draft. 5-6 will need a new law in Parliament.
1. Every detail of such cases, except girl's name, should be sent to every girl in
2. Govt and private organization can create easy to remember helpline numbers - like 55100 or 55101 or 99-8888-8888 etc.
3. Every girl in 11th and 12th class should be informed that in case she ever gets trapped, these are the numbers she can call.
4. Every girl in 11th and 12th class should be informed that there are govt funded "women shelter home" where every woman can get living place. And there are many organization which provide living space like Asaram Bapu Ashram (I am not anti-Asaram) , Bhrahma Kumaries, Durga Vahini etc etc . Every girl should be given list of such places and explained that if they fear that their relatives will not give a place to stay, then they will have a place to stay.
5. When girl calls on that number and gives where-about, a national team, will try to track her or approach her.
6 The national squad should have power to raid any home etc, without informing state govt or local police, if they have information that women are trapped there.
Essentially, an information-dispensing program is necessary to inform every girl in India that if they are ever trapped, there is a helpline to call, and she must know shelter homes where a deserted girl can live.
Why usual police help like of "100" number doesnt help : because in such places, local policemen have deep nexuses with den-owners. eg Azamgadh is one such place. It has large number of such dens. And all policemen/judges, including CM, Home Minister and all the High Court judges have dense nexuses with den owners. So a national level squad , say under CRPF, which has power to raid any home to rescue women, will needed. The bill to make such squad will be difficult to draft (but not impossible) as there are center/state constitutional issues , which need to be resolved.
